KNOWING WHO WE WILL BE FROM THE BEGINNING

“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations.”  Jeremiah 1:5

“Listen to me, O coastlands, and give attention, you peoples from afar. The Lord called me from the womb, from the body of my mother he named my name. He made my mouth like a sharp sword; in the shadow of his hand he hid me; he made me a polished arrow; in his quiver he hid me away.”  Isaiah 49:1-2

Our Lord God, we know that He is omniscient and omnipotent; and if we don’t have a quandary about all the paradoxes as impossible concepts, we must then accept these two verses as truth. That the fact that while we were within our pregnant mother, God knew the person who we would become, including our personality, our choices we would make during our lives, and whether we would choose to follow the path which He would prefer us to take. This does not distract from our free will, although God knows the decisions we will make, He doesn’t alter our consequences by doing so, nor does he stop us from making them. God knew that Judas would betray Christ, just as much as He knew that we would need Christ’s sacrifice since the beginning of creation. Our world, all of our lives, were in His knowledge before the first man walked on this earth. So.., what does this truly mean for all of us? We must accept that although we believe at times that God does not really understand us, in fact He does. He knows our path before we do. I must admit that this seems frustrating at times, questioning if I really desire this free will thing. Yet, understanding that God is not a puppeteer.
